About COSA:Who We Serve
We are here for our tribes
COSA accreditation is a vital step to ensure the highest quality education is available on tribal lands. Preparing our youth for the future provides the ability for everyone to thrive.
Accreditation is granted to an educational institution upon successful completion of a rigorous evaluation process. Accreditation is awarded in five-year terms. The COSA Board of Directors makes all accreditation decisions.
COSA accreditation is designed for:
- Community Tribal Schools
- BIE Operated Schools
- Early Childhood Education Centers
- Tribal Local Education Agency located within reservations
- Tribal Private Schools within reservations
Accreditation is presently available for schools in the following states:
- South Dakota
- North Dakota
- Minnesota
Additional program expansion is planned for schools within the 530 federally and state-recognized tribal lands plus indigenous nations in other countries.
